Possibly a comment on socialists being poor evangelists?
Moreso the lengths one has to go before the average person finally sees behind the capitalist curtain. Tons of people completely drank the flavoraid growing up and really believe the American dream is achievable, rather than a fairy tale told by the rich to keep us complacent and grinding away for them.
For example, when I started dating one of my partners, they were one of those "girl boss grindset" sorts of people and convinced they'd be able to make a million dollars in just a few years when their small business got off the ground, despite being at it for years already. It took a year or two of discussing politics and economics before they finally saw just how poisoned their vworldiew had been, and woke up to how they were being (quite literally) ground down and broken by the system for the benefit of the capital class at the expense of their physical health.
