So, the explainer is that the wood is impregnated with a retardant which makes them safe, and the goblin is the brand (/mascot)... I'd love to find a citation but looking it up returns me mostly just smut...
You are correct
Its a tomte or vätte, most commonly translated to goblin but more similar to house spirit. Impregnerad is the swedish word of "impregrated by something", used about tent cloth, boots or other items, very rarely about creatures where the words gravid or havande is used.
English also stole "gravid" from Latin, but it usually refers to egg-laying animals.
However many legs they have.
