I'm sure most of you here have heard about Cemu's woes over the last few days. The AppImage and Ubuntu zip assets of Cemu 2.6 on the official GitHub was "compromised by a pro-Russian threat actor".

Clearly this news isn't good at all, even if it is a smaller batch who might be affected, but the interesting point to me is how RetroDECK has remained separate from this issue because of how it is run:

Honestly the only reason I've clung to Emudeck instead of Retrodeck is because it seems so heavily based on ES-DE which I don't want to use whatsoever. Even their SRM support seems to require favoriting games in ES-DE.

Is there something wrong with ES-DE?

[–] livjq@lemmy.world 4 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

It's not my preferred front end. I have also avoided it because of es-de

"I don't like ES-DE because of ES-DE".

Thanks for the thorough explanation!

Not liking something "just because" is also a valid argument to not like something. You are not required to like anything and your reasoning is your own.

You may be less fun at parties for not liking lots of things, however.

The person you're replying to is not the same person that was originally asked. They are just chiming in with agreement of the first person, stating that they do not use Retrodeck because they do not like ES-DE.

The "It" in "I have avoided it" is Retrodeck, not ES-DE.

Not particularly, it works great for what it does, but I much prefer the SRM approach. I don't want to use a separate launcher for emulation when Steam is right there.
