I do find it a little amusing comparing Squirrel and Hedgehog to PBS's animated adaptation of Redwall.
Redwall: Zooms into Mattimeo's face while he gets whipped.
Squirrel and Hedgehog: Squirrel gets rendered into ground meat from an explosion. ON SCREEN.
That scene alone has kept many DPRK children up at night. I guarantee it.
I do think Squirrel and Hedgehog has more depth to its themes though. Yeah, Redwall deals with war, but it's.... Well it is superficial isn't it?
Squirrel and Hedgehog doesn't not hold back. It goes through the consequences of being at war, and I respect the hell out of that.
Yeah. I'm not familiar with Redwall, though. It sounds interesting.
It's interesting but not something that "presses the right buttons" for me personally.
I went down the "Rats of NIMH" path myself.
