I spent a big chunk of yesterday cooking and cleaning for family dinner. Cooked for 6 adults. I made leek , bacon and chicken pies with steamed vegie sides. Delicious. I made 16 pies so I had lots left over. That was for dinner and lunches the rest of the week and some for the young Seagoons too.

Miss Seagoon made some dairy free brownies, which are delicious too. ☺️

So, MIL asks to take some pies home. She's very elderly and doesn't cook anymore. I said no. She was angry but hid it well.

But she's so old.

I call this consequences. I offered 3 times over the years to cook all her meals and bring them to her frozen once a month. Free. She said no, saying she can't eat my cooking. Then she calls family and tells everyone I am mean and don't look after her

In the past when I gave her food to take home she refused to return containers and my good bags, even mocking me when I asked , saying she now uses them all for holding rubbish.

So the answer is no. She's lucky she gets anything at all.

Interestingly no one disagreed with me saying I should look after really old lady.

They see what's going on. They're familiar with her bullshit.

and yet no one has ever stuck for me, ever

It can be difficult to stand up to your own parent, it's so often dismissed. Probably more so with how your MIL sounds. Everyone's probably rejoicing at someone giving her some friction for her behaviour.

She made her bed, she gets to lie in it. Good on you!
