Interesting. Although users in Philadelphia can cross the river to New Jersey to buy legal cannabis, it's only available in Pennsylvania with a medical card. I have to wonder if these cases are coming from people who bought weed legally in a neighboring state, or is it happening with people who consumed unregulated alternatives (like Delta-8) from places like smoke shops and gas stations?

So maybe they're just vomiting because they went to NJ

No, its from legit sources. It's been a more and more popular diagnosis the last 5 or 6 years. I first saw it around 2018 in a legal state. One someone has it they kind of just have it and any THC use will cause the symptoms. It's n/v and abd pain characterized by recent cannabis use in a chronic cannabis use patient. I've never seen it in anyone who described themselves as moderate. Relief with hot showers and worsening with cannabis use are the diagnostic criteria other than personal/social hx.

The doctors I worked with felt like it was due to the low price and availability of concentrates.

Do you know the reason taking hot showers is part of the criteria?

Do I know why it works to lessen the symptoms? No, not in the way that I'd put my name behind. It's part of the diagnostic criteria because "relief with hot shower" doesn't usually work for those symptoms if the cause is something else.

Interesting. Thank you for taking the time to reply!

To make it sound scarier. That’s it, because it’s not even a real thing

Speaking from personal experience, I live in PA and I have a medical card (which is incredibly easy to get FWIW). I only buy lab tested dispensary bud. My wife developed CHS smoking with me. I did not develop CHS, and we were smoking the exact same product.

Delta-9 is legal federally, as long as it is derived from hemp. It just takes a shit load more plant matter. It's dumb, but it's still d-9 I guess.

Some states have created their own laws against it, but I'm not sure if PA is one.

FYI, the laws and attitudes regarding cannabis in Philly aren't going to always align with PA's. I know that, for years, cannabis use was decriminalized in Philadelphia, even while it was still illegal in PA for medical. It was de facto legal in Philly.
