They have good legal reason for that.

They lost the prisoner. Can't have a trial for rape if the victim has disappeared. There's video footage, but that doesn't mean anything, that's why the only person prosecuted is the woman who leaked the video.

In general, murdering the rape victim shouldn't be a get out of jail card.
