Soulslike - Discussion, News, Memes
This is a community for discussion, news, and memes pertaining to the video game sub-genre "soulslike".
Given Lemmy's size, the definition of soulslike may be treated relatively loosely. While games like the numerous FromSoft titles, the recent Star Wars Jedi games, Lies of P, Nioh and similar games should be the focus, games that incorporate soulslike elements - like Hollow Knight and Blasphemous, for example - may also be discussed here.
Basic Lemmy-quette applies. Additionally, since flairs don't exist yet, please do make sure to include a marker to denote what game your post is about in square brackets for clarity's sake. An example could be:
[BB] This enemy is so difficult!
or
[DS1] Anyone struggling with the gargoyles?

Oh how the discounts beckon so sweetly. Tbh I'm a total aesthetic snob, if the art doesn't sit right with me the game doesn't get played. I'm curious if you manage to shift ny perspective on this one.
I am an art/aesthetic enjoyer, but not really a snob I don't think. I'm not sure I can think of any game I've refused to play because of aesthetics. There have been many cases of games where the art was a driving factor in deciding to actually play them though, like GRIS, INMOST, most recently eying REPLACED...
^Side note: what's with these artsy indie games using all caps for their titles? When did this become a thing?^
Oh! Those are some nice looking games!
Now that you mention it, perhaps some added Gravitas for the cover? :P some extra oomph?
I can recommend both of them if you ever want a shorter palate cleanser. I like doing a quick artsy indie game between longer playthroughs. Neither GRIS nor INMOST is any longer than 5-6h in total.
REPLACED looks phenomenal but I am a little hesitant about the amount of difficult platforming, which is something I often struggle with (and struggle to enjoy). I still might buy it though because... well... look at it!
