I'm really getting sick of this.
Gassing up rumors of a false flag assassination attempt isn't helping.
It's not about you. It's about online individuals validating their echo chamber the same way MAGA people do. Same people; different ends of a spectrum.
They just really need to believe it is so to the point that they'll dive into whatever narrative well before there's any information to critically analyse Sound familiar, huh?
I think a lot of people are just hoping for a particular headline to signify a change from this relative insanity and don't care if it's not a double filet-o-fish that finally does it.
Hard agree with all of this.
I've seen a lot of false flag operations on both Reddit and Lemmy, so none of this is surprising. In this instance, however, I think it's just a joke.
I've been downvoted to shit this morning for daring to question this apeshit conspiracy theory, so for many it's dead serious. They've been blowing up my inbox with angry replies.
I would just ignore the inbox. It has become so cheap to create automated fake accounts that what you see on the internet doesn't reflect reality. On well-funded platforms like Reddit these misinformation bots need to at least act like rational individuals, but claiming to be a far-left liberal is enough for free reign on Lemmy.
It sucks, but the Internet is still adapting to this new technology. I try not to let perceived peer pressure determine anything about me.
Are they really bots? I'm thinking it's mostly just really stupid people. But who knows.
Some are bots, but others are real people that were influenced by the bots . The Asch Conformity Experiments suggest that up to 35% of the population will adopt what they perceive to be the majority opinion.

That's ... Sad.
It makes sense, our inputs are imperfect and our brains are always interpreting and correcting. As a social species we use other people's perceptions as another error correction method. We missee, mishear, misread, misremember… regularly
Yeah, I guess I'm weird because while I'm definitely influenceable, I cannot see a world where I just swallow unlikely "facts" just because some people say them confidently. Unless those people are experts in a field or something, which is pretty opposite to online randos.
Wow! Do you wear pants?
Fight fire with fire baby.
People have been doing this since the first time, it's baffling that people don't think Trump is hated enough to be shot.
Both can be true
The "first time" was fake though... perhaps thats why people don't trust these?
An annual event that was attended by all presidents and that was attended by trump for the very first time as a president. An event that 3 days earlier we got a leak that he will be trying to leave earlier, the event where a reporter supposed to receive an award for publishing trump's birthday card to Epstein.
Excuse me when I'm skeptical about it.
Also can somebody tell me why is somebody who supposedly was with handgun, shotgun and knives running through metal detector and somehow being apprehended without even being wounded? Did somebody tackled such armed individual?
The problem is the more they preach extreamism the more it comes true in until eventually it is the only logical path.
Yeah, social media already fuels this for quite some time, the more we are habituated to extremism, the extremer extremism gets (or something along these lines).
It's kinda sad, that this is once again nationalism/authoritarianism and not something that actually makes sense to get "extreme" about like fighting climate-change (and the main culprit companies...), this is actually a reason to get angry about...
What do you mean? It's conceivable that it could happen so it's definitely true!! /s
Definitely doesn't matter that trump would be too scared to do something like this, that's completely irrelevant.
Its a meme community... Its just supposed to be political and memes, I don't think accuracy is a factor.
So let's just spread false information as a joke! Surely nothing will go wrong when people spread misinformation as a funny.
I don't think I said that at all.
But if you're getting your information from memes, yeah, that's a problem.
Where we're going we don't need the truth.
