I mean its not as strange or surprising as it appears on the surface level
What are radical centrists except true believers in neoliberalism, who consciously or subconsciously subscribe to the dogma of "there's no such thing as society, only individuals"
So what's an individual to do when they see someone making a mockery of the nonsensical idealism they base their identity around? Certainly the concept of collective action is out of the question because to them that's fantasy or science fiction
But as a result of foregoing real human connection they immediately fall into a self-referential spiral where their entire identity is subsumed by constant intensifying reaction to the thing that constantly thwarts their individual idealism.....the only road this leads to poltically is adventurism, the ultimate expression of individualism
It also doesn't help that the only other individuals a person like this takes seriously (the neoliberal elites) constantly bow down to Trump, creating a powerful cognitive dissonance in the mind of an already isolated personality
The very avatars of your idealism surrendering to the monster that is destroying it? Yeah it's not a surprise these fanatics snap
