Given cars are becoming more and more like modern computers and most people have some preference of what side of the wheel the indicator is on: It's surprising that manufacturers don't allow changing the stalk side via software setting

As mechanic I've driven car with signal on the left (european or european-inspired car), and i also driven car with signal on the right(japanese), honestly once you learn where the thing is it's really just instinct(unless you drive bmw, they don't have a signal stick). Having swappable side will drive me insane.
