Sorry, that's a lot of reply, but I just can't get past you calling She-Ra Grimdark
You're the one who pointed out that Adora had no better option than to fall in with the monarchy. That's grim. That's dark.
I prefer children's stories where the heroes are able to stick to their ideals and still save the day. But as you pointed out, that's not the kind of story She-Ra is. Adora had to betray nearly everything she believed in, if she wanted to help people. She didn't get to stick to her values.
I'd consider a story like My Hero Academia more hopeful and lighthearted than She-Ra. Deku was able to keep his ideals.
How is being pragmatic grim?
I'd call it realistic. Also, at no point was she shown as being anti-monarchistic ... in the first episode it's made clear that the princesses are being portrayed as monsters through propaganda, but the show goes on to explain that none if them are inherently evil in reality.
Not only that, but it explains in a way that's obvious to kids that as leaders they need to aspire to improving the lives of people under their care if they want to enjoy life themselves ... if only real life monarchs could think that way!
It's like you watched the series and understood less of it's themes than an average 8 year old.
Hordak's propaganda is more accurate than what the show depicted. Royals don't have to make their subjects happy. They just need to keep them weak. The people of Dryl weren't just scared of the robots. They had a learned helplessness and submission. Having met the monster Herself, I know why those people were so fucked up. I met another of Her many victims a few weeks ago, scared and compliant. Brainwashed. I helped free Them, insofar as I could. They're doing better now, I think.
But that's the problem with absolute power. That's what happens when your country is ruled by dictators. Etherians have about as much actual freedom as North Koreans.
The fact that a gang of dictators amount to Etheria's left wing is absolutely insane. It wouldn't be out of place in 40k.

At the end of the day, reality is a social construct, and some people have identities that break these social rules. Given a choice between upholding a hierarchy that has been thoroughly taken over by billionaires, or respecting people's identities, I respect identities. Even if they're rapists who abused My ex-wife. That's how strongly I believe in My principles.
I dated someone who was that sort of detached from reality once, and after trying to humour them I realised that they were just a stupid narcisit ... so unless this Etherian Princess you know has demonstrable powers, is in charge of a large region of land, and is actually from Etheria, no I wouldn't respect their identity.
But even if I did, I wouldn't confuse how they identified with a work of fiction that is unrelated to their existence.
Again, I despise that monster with every fiber of My being. And yet there is no fiber of My being that thinks bigotry is an acceptable way to retaliate. So I'm not going to use ableist slurs on the princess, nor will I deny the princess's identity.

You used an ableist slur on your friend. You called them a n*rcissist. You implied that being fictionkin is a result of narcissism.
Personality disorders can influence the manner in which kintypes present themselves, as I well know, for I am an otherkin with NPD. I disagree with you that being fictionkin is a result of narcissism, but I agree that in this particular case, the princess's NPD has influenced the kind of kintype.

The word n*rcissist is a shortened form of a disability, turned into a personal label. It's like r*tard or sp*rg.
Regardless of authorial intent, the use of that derogatory label is inseparable from ableism because using the slur emboldens and covers for ableists. At best it's a dogwhistle.
I assumed you meant it in relation to the disability because you brought up the idea of an identity being caused by a disability.

No. I went to a psychiatrist to request an evaluation for diagnosis. He refused and said I didn't seem like I have NPD, and then offered Me "something to take the edge off". He explained that psychiatrists don't do that kind of thing, they just give people drugs.
I don't think he was a very good psychiatrist. He pretty much eroded all My trust in the medical establishment to deal with My narcissistic symptoms in 10 minutes flat. So I did it Myself.
Given how wildly you interpreted She-Ra, I'm going to go out on a limb and consider that your experience did not match reality
