This lets corporate greed off too easy. The politicians are the puppets. The real strings are the money behind them that barely anyone knows their names.

Nixon was a horrible person who supported moderate conservative policies, despite being far right wing himself.

He believed that the way for conservatives to attract young people was to support some progressive policies. That's why his administration started the EPA, for example. That's why he was interested in UBI.

Had Nixon and his entire administration not been embroiled in many different major corruption scandals and forced to resign, we'd have a different conservative party today. Who knows if it would have been better, though.
