Oh, this again? There was a similar finding a couple years ago. Turns out they measured platelet activity in 20 people a few minutes after consuming erythritol compared to consuming the same amount of glucose. Platelets are the cells responsible for forming blood clots that stop bleeding, and blood clots in certain places can have a negative effect on cardiovascular function. Observing activity in a something that performs a function that may do something else is a huge difference from measuring a causal effect.
This new study doesn't seem to break new ground on the matter, so take it with a grain of salt. Or sugar. Or your choice of non-nutritive sweetener. If it's cause enough concern for you, then just make sure you're consuming a diet rich in whole foods, keep saturated fat under 10% of your total daily calorie intake, and get your weekly 150 minutes of moderate or 75 minutes of vigorous cardio.
