I assumed that would not be the goal of anyone using the fediverse but I'm pretty terminally online and sometimes see posts on [All/New] that make me wonder

Or is that a thing my instance could do?

The way I understand it is "all" is not curated in any way*, it's simply all posts across all communities federated with your instance.

*Some instances might be defederated from your instance, meaning any posts in that instance would not end up in your "all" feed, so that may be the extent of the curation.

I could be wrong, i'm relatively new to the fediverse myself.

I also, understood that my instance to be federated to yours, at least one person needs to be subscribed to at least one community from your instance, otherwise my instance doesn't know your instance even exists.

If wrong I'd love understand it better.
