Yeah but like, in the US you have to use a lot more gas to do your daily life than most Europeans do. Not only with bigger vehicles and faster speeds but like, 25% of my city even owns a car, and half of them are electric.

So gas prices are one thing but the spend on gas is another

Still, the median US salary is $62k while EU is almost half that - $38k.

That being said, from my anecdotal experience US prices are noticabely higher than EU average, and EU actually does social welfare so the money probably gets you more bang for buck.

The only things more expensive in the EU that I know of are OTC meds and gas.

If you can't afford a monster pickup, just don't own one. Cars getting fatter isn't a US-exclusive thing, since Europeans also love their SUVs.

Still ain't even close to closing that delta $8 a gallon even if you tag on all the little shit and it certainly ain't this meme.

What? I spent $0 on gas for a car in 2025. The vast majority of my city spends very little or no money on gas. The price 10x'ing doesn't affect people anyway near as much as most in the US

Edit: idk it's just weird to defend skyrocketing gas prices
