Looks like The White House is just winging it, and there's no plan whatsoever:

A recent internal assessment from the Defense Intelligence Agency that was circulating inside the Pentagon in recent weeks determined that Iran could potentially keep the passage shut for anywhere from one to six months, four sources familiar with the document told CNN. But White House and Pentagon officials insisted that the assessment — particularly the longer end timeframe, which some consider a worst-case scenario — was not being seriously considered.

passage shut for anywhere from one to six months

Is there something happening after six months that will reopen the waters to imperialists ?

doubtful, but it's plausible that western world is going to have an economic crash by then and the burger reich will have to abandon the war and crawl back home

They think they can win in 6 months if they have to. And in a worst case scenario, if they literally go nuclear - who knows, maybe they can. I just hope they're not actually that stupid.

The midterm elections in 2026 will be held on November 3, 2026, with primary elections occurring on various dates, including August 18, 2026, in many states.

That might spell bad news for the republicans but I don’t see how that spells bad news for the war. Haven’t seen evidence that the democrats are opposed to this war, just how it’s being conducted. Encore of 2004.
