I mean, if you’re perky goal-oriented, this may very well be the best move, but meta-gaming is lame.

That's parenting; you hang out with someone uncool until enough of your vibe rubs off on them that they can function in society. Then they tell their friends how lame you are... And it'll be true, you spent years hanging out with a dude who shits their pants!
