I loved this series when I started learning Japanese. I got into it because I bought the guide to the restaurants he visited while killing time waiting for a friend who's chronically late. I assumed it was a guide to places ideal for solo dining until I started reading it and then decided to try the TV show. It's really cozy, and I couldn't imagine something with so little going on would get popular in English speaking countries.
I got to see the writer of the manga and his band play the songs from the show and I asked him to sign the hardback version of the first volume of the manga.
