Hello fellow Calvin and Hobbes fans!
About this community and how I post the comic strip… The comics are posted in chronological order on the day (usually) they were released. Posting them to match the release date adds a bit of fun and nostalgia to match the experience of reading them in the newspaper for first time. Many moons ago, I would ask my Dad to save the newspaper for me everyday so I could read my favorite comic strips. It really sucked when I missed a day. Only years later, when I got the books was I able to catch up on the missed strips.

I don't think it's the same box. The first appearance of the transmogrifier was on 1989-03-12. The beanie box is also a bit too small for Calvin to fit inside.
Hmm, are you sure on the dates? The March 12th 1989 is a Sunday strip without the transmogrifier, and the 3rd of December is about mailing Santa.
... BUT... The cardboard box the beanie comes in first shows on March 11 (with the action concluding on the 18th talking about all the fun they'll have with this great cardboard box.
(Admittedly, looking at it now, the box does seem a bit too small for them to fit in but...)
Whoops, sorry, I think I was half asleep when I typed that date. The first appearance of the transmogrifier was 1987-03-23, nearly two years before this propeller beanie saga.
Ahhh, that makes sense.
In retrospect, I suppose I could've googled it but it's always nice to have an excuse to dig out the anthology.
