So they helped end democratic rule and put a despot in place that was corrupt in their favor. The son of whom they are trying to get back into power now

A theocratic despot who somehow hated the us and UK.

This all could've been helped by letting the democracy be and paying a fair share for the oil extracted from the country, but that was somehow a bridge too far.
