Lot of people celebrating his death out there. Of course many Western commenters will be doing so blindly, on the basis that Iran = Bad , but I don't know enough to say otherwise.

My instinct is that he was an imperfect leader who himself was the result of decades of imperial meddling in the region. Damned no matter what.

FWIW I think its kind of a waste of time to debate the merits of any Ayatollahs when you could be talking about the international situation more broadly. You're accepting the liberal framing of personal merit over more systemic issues.
