This is actually one of the few shitty things the Trump voters didn't vote for. Trump campaigned as anti-war. Just recently Americans polled at 70% opposition to military action. Even Republicans have a majority against it (53-35).

Trump campaigned as anti-war.

Which, to anyone noticing a pattern, is how you knew without doubt he'd start a war.

Yup. I remember George W. Bush saying that he was against "nation building wars" and then he started two of the fucking things, including the longest war in the history of the country.

If Republicans are against it then why isn't Congress stopping him?

They're cowards and/or bought by Israel. The Democratic leadership conveniently delayed a vote against military action until next week. Speculation is that either they get so much AIPAC money they'll do whatever Israel wants or they think this will be such a big shit show for Trump they want to just let it happen for political benefit.

Also, realistically, Republicans are weak-willed morons. There will be a few days of uncomfortable confusion, but they'll be cheerleading this by next week.

After all, they never met a middle-eastern war they didn't like.

  • Killing lots of brown people.

  • Unlimited money for their defense contractor buddies.

  • Get to cosplay as patriotic for supporting the war effort and supporting the troops. (Words only for the troops, of course. Still cutting veteran's healthcare budget.)

What's not to like?

Trump campaigned as anti-war.

Trump also, to anyone with a functioning brain, campaigned as a rat fucking liar who'd go back on any and all promises when it was expedient for him, so they therefore voted for whatever Trump feels serves his own interests and by extension any such wars.
