The Pentagon is big mad that Anthropic didn't allow Claude to do mass surveillance or killing. Anthropic has updated their scaling policy afterwards, they claim this is because they will be left behind otherwise.

Didn't Anthropic cave on this?

Edit: Nope. Seems they discussed it and put out some PR, but just said "No thanks" to the pressure.

They did a bit of both sides here, they relaxed some of their safety rules to remain competitive, but also sort of gave the Department of War the middle finger:
