Currently in the Bronze Age but I just found Iron so I'm hoping to make some upgrades soon.

I do like the look of the bear rug, I'd much prefer a low res look to games that try way too hard to look realistic and just end up having no unique aesthetic of their own (main reason I dislike the viking aesthetic tbh, it always just looks like they just made a game off of viking themed unity assets)

I'll check it out, thanks!

I can't believe nobody has mentioned the semi-realistic sailing with changing wind direction. It's incredibly good at capturing the spirit of hopping in a longboat with the lads and setting off for adventure in literally whatever way the wind will take you. Also ships are super integral to mid-game gear gathering. You can build arcane portals to points of interest or resource points or between bases, but the caveat is that you can't travel through them with any ore or smelted metal in your inventory.

So you really gotta head out and load up the hold with all the important stuff found in specific biomes, many of which will be on a different continent than your starting position and plan accordingly, packing the right meals and then hauling it all back once you've filled your ship's hold and carrying as much as you can in addition, if you go over the weight limit your character can't even climb aboard the ship nor can you sit down or hold onto the mast.

Also on the bigger ship you can even hold on to the cool dragon head thingy on the front and put your foot up like a badass. I believe the biggest ship when I was playing some years ago say 4 people in the spots where you would row if it had paddles, and two holding on standing up.
