well, actually it reads

many of whom wore protest pins, shouted him down and accused him of spreading lies and sidestepping the Epstein files.

True, still not much, but some things start small. Let's hope the US figures it out in time. For their sake. For the rest of the world it's mostly irritating but we'll find new ways and reliable partners. Even if the US makes a full 180 turn today, it will be decades before they will be trusted and respected again.
