However, diabetes and joint wear don't have a political leaning. Those aren't moral imperatives though..
yeah most diseases are due to risk factors like poor diet, lack of exercise, smoking, drinking, and also environmental exposures. So while it is motivating to not care about how others view you, you need to watch out for preventable diseases like hypertension (and high BP), obesity, and heart disease. And having too much visceral fat places stress on all your organs, blood vessels, it is just not good. I’m not a doctor but my limited education has told me this much. You can appear healthy but still be at risk for one of these diseases, or even have one of them.
Exactly. That's why I always advocate for people to aim for being near a healthy weight. If you're a tad overweight or a tad underweight, that's so much better than being grossly over or under. Being healthier doesn't mean you have to be perfect, just better than you were.
