Seriously tho, is it a good time to get into helldivers?
Well there’s nothing particularly special to wait for. Its fun for about 20 hours then it gets repetitive. Nothing they add is really an evolution its just the usual live service mill.
Its balanced in such a way that the default set of weapons is good enough for everything and all the new paid ones released dont really add much. The content is largely the same except for some seasonal event or mission type that turns out to be mid af.
There’s nothing really to get in to you just enjoy the spectacle for a bit, have fun blowing up your friends. Then quit because the game isnt actually any fun and more of a platform to grind battlepasses that dont contain anything worth grinding for. And then the bugs, terrible performance, constant weird changes and balancing patches to remove any and all fun.
The most fun we had was the stratagem bug that let you throw them down over and over due to some animation bug so we could drop so many bombs the game would crash. And it was honestly great but the core game has nothing like that in it. Just grinding and occasionally the devs will invent an exceedingly bullshit enemy like flame shotgun robots that can shoot you with pinpoint accuracy from miles away but they have shields so theyre impossible to kill at range. Or the underground tentacle bug that instantly kills you and can seemingly tentacle from the other side of the map so is impossible to locate and kill. Or the flying dragon bugs that were just boring to kill with huge health pools but could melt everyone in one pass. General fodder enemies having too high health because the game is unstable and the devs had to reduce enemy counts so made everything tanky to compensate meaning 1 mag of ammo kills like 2 enemies. I think some of this is now resolved but it doesn’t make the game enjoyable.
