Ah yup, I pronounced it quinn-oh-a, not keen-oh-a at a fancy cafe and yup, snooty nosed waitress corrected me while sneering down her nose. I was scarred. I am scarred, I suppose. Never again will I mispronounce quinoa, but never shall I embarrass someone who mispronounces it. Quinoa is not just a fancy grain, it is a powerful teacher (mentor? totem?) in this complicated life.
