I'd say it's more Kin Wha, but anything along those lines works!

Almost anyone English speaking who has come across it written down will go with 'qwin-o-a' as the pronunciation though, then when they learn the correct pronunciation they sometimes get a bit snooty about correcting other people to try to cover up the fact that they didn't know initially either. I think how they approach it says a lot about people . You could probably do a sliding scale from nice people who tell you nicely because they want to share knowledge up to the nasty self-absorbed snooty people who sneer down their noses because you dared to read a work phonetically. I'll call it the Raven-Quinoa personality scale. It could revolutionise psychology...

Ah yup, I pronounced it quinn-oh-a, not keen-oh-a at a fancy cafe and yup, snooty nosed waitress corrected me while sneering down her nose. I was scarred. I am scarred, I suppose. Never again will I mispronounce quinoa, but never shall I embarrass someone who mispronounces it. Quinoa is not just a fancy grain, it is a powerful teacher (mentor? totem?) in this complicated life.
