Explanation: After the Nazi regime was overthrown in WW2, the Allies split Germany into two - east and west - in part to ensure control over 'their' portion of Germany, but also in part because Germany had (by their eyes, perhaps not wholly fairly wrt WW1) started two world wars over the course of 25 years, and they had gotten quite tired of that.
Not so sure either side actually grew tired of it... more that the US (publicly) grew more tired and fearful of the cold war.
you're thinking about 44 years in the future of what this is talking about
