i just wanted to mention ai drones and surveillance already exist. it's already doing damage, and i'm not even considering the environmental damage they do.

you were arguing ai won't become skynet, i am arguing it already has in many ways.
It's literally the comment you responded to. Either way, Skynet isn't just "machines that hurt people". In the world of Terminator, Skynet is the hyper-intelligent, self-aware AI that facilitates the surreptitious takeover of humanity's technology. Saying llms will ever remotely come close to that demonstrates a fundamental misunderstanding of what the technology is and can do.
actual ai is controlled by rogue oligarchs to facilitate a take over of humanity's technology. it's not just machines that kill people in a vacuum either.
in practice, for us down here, it's already acting like skynet in many ways.
