Why have the cops take it away? Is it common for stolen scooters to be tossed in the water?
It is apparently. I called to ask about rules for mag-fishing, and they said if a serial number could be found they want you to call it in. Bikes, scooters, guns etc. And don't leave stuff lying around. Use public trash cans or take it away. But that's about it for rules.
I feel like if you find a gun and turn it in they should have to trade you one back otherwise it's finders keepers
I don't think it's advisable to hold onto a gun that was likely used in someone else's crime!
Police: Sir, why are you in possession of a gun that was used in a murder 15 years ago?
Law Abiding Fisherman: I found it magnet fishing.
Police: Why didn't you call it in to us and report it?
Law Abiding Fisherman: I live by a higher law. A natural law. And there are no takes backsies.
Police: sotto voce Oh, wow. I'm impressed by this man's integrity and dedication to righteousness. Aloud Okay sir, that all checks out. You have a nice day.
A balloon pops. Police empties his magazine into the Law Abiding Fisherman. In his report it states the decedent was in possession of a firearm that was previously used in a crime. Police gets 6 months off with pay while the matter is investigated. At the conclusion of the inquest Police is granted early retirement with full pension. Police receives a medal
