Any politics anywhere in the world. Inevitably it'll be 99% US stuff, but that's not a rule.

This community works differently to how most politics communities work. It has strict rules designed to facilitate productive discussion. You can be rude, to a point, but you can't participate in bad faith:

If you claim someone said something they didn't say, that's a temp ban.
If you make a factual claim but then aren't interested in backing it up, that's a temp ban.
If you're asked one or two reasonable questions about what you said, and you're still talking but you're pretending the questions didn't happen or rejecting the premise of answering them, that's a temp ban.

The idea is to make the discussion productive. Let's see how it works. Maybe this is a fool's errand but IDK how any set of moderation could be worse than lemmy.world.

Instagram has suspended the account of Track AIPAC, a widely followed watchdog project that tracks political spending by the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) and related pro-Israel lobbying groups. The social media giant cited alleged violations of the platform’s intellectual property and trademark rules. The suspension places the account at risk of permanent deletion unless successfully appealed within 180 days.

Track AIPAC — also known as AIPAC Tracker — was launched in 2024 by Cory Archibald and Casey Kennedy as a transparency and advocacy platform documenting AIPAC’s political donations, endorsements and influence on US elections. The project publishes Federal Election Commission data on pro-Israel political spending, highlights which lawmakers receive the most support, and endorses opponents of candidates reliant on AIPAC funding.

The watchdog has become a prominent source for voters and activists seeking to make AIPAC funding “politically toxic” and to hold elected officials accountable for their ties to the pro-Israel lobby.

Jordana Cutler, Meta’s public policy director for Israel, at the 2025 JNS summit :

We updated our policies to recognize that the term Zionist can be used as a proxy for Jews and Israelis. We banned content claiming Zionists run the world or control the media and we do not allow for dehumanizing comparisons of Zionists.

Although Tik Tok had a mass exodus of users from the US on acquisition by Larry Ellision, Meta has yet to see this, and honestly it deserves more. Let’s hope the lawsuit in CA about minors being addicted holds Meta accountable and more people see the evil doings of that company.
