In case an acorn falls to the ground.

*car

The acorn fell on the car and surprised the officer, who then shot the windows out.

Edit reference: https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/video-shows-florida-deputy-repeatedly-shoot-man-thinking-falling-acorn-rcna138829

an acorn could be seen striking the top of his patrol car

I really hope everyone at his sheriff's office doesn't ever let that one go. Coworkers mocking him is appropriate given the shame he did to (whatever's left of) their reputation.

He had someone apprehended in the back of the car at the time. He fired like 5 shots into it, and luckily the guy wasent hit.

He shouldnt be mocked, but fired and arrested for gross negligence. Im sure neither happened.

EDIT: looks like he unloaded 22 shots at his handcuffed and restrained suspect, and the cop resigned. It was Florida, so of course no charges were ever filed.

He should be fired and arrested, but ALSO heavily mocked.

[–] a_non_monotonic_function@lemmy.world 1 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Why, prey tell, shouldn't he be mocked for being a compete fuckup who may murder someone do to his fuckupery?

[–] rainwall@piefed.social 1 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

Cause mockery is shit all compared to justice. Mock away, but I want more.

He resigned before he could be fired, but thats as far as it got. I expect he will show up at some other acab factory and put innocent people in danger again, because making fun of him didnt stop him.

They also put their thumbprint on your car when they walk up to it, in case you run away.

[–] bluespin@lemmy.world 15 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Can you elaborate? What is the benefit to them of having their thumbprint on the car?

[–] Vicinus@piefed.zip 14 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

My understanding is that it's not for if you run away, but if they go missing, forensics will be able to place them with the car, before they went missing.

This is correct. I went to school to be a cop but quickly saw how fucking cliquey they are and anyone who wasn't wasnt exactly like them isn't accepted (I was a dumb kid, forgive me for actually wanting to help people,) so I changed career trajectories. Thank. Fuck. Anyway, yes, thats what they tell you in school - when approaching a vehicle, press your thumb/hand whatever on the rear quarter panel in the event something happens to you, they can place you at the car to make a case against the owner/occupants.

so wash your car if you're gonna abduct a cop is what I'm hearing

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 21 points 17 hours ago

Finally, a reason to wash my car

[–] Woht24@lemmy.world 2 points 13 hours ago

It's if the driver severely injure or kills them. It's evidence that they have pulled you over and interacted with you, so if the police later seize, search and finger print the car, they'll find the cops finger print
