I completely disagree. Saw a dude who used to make ice cream with state trees just do a video about making bread with pine needles. He said it was amazing.
And if you never tried making your own soda, grab some pine needles and mix with water and sugar in a pressure safe vessel for a couple days and you get something not all that dissimilar from sprite.

No balloon cap, something that can contain a little pressure so it'll carbonate. I prefer doing fermentation in glass, but an old soda bottle would work fine.
