And of course it is the children’s fault. [...] I do hate that older generations do this. It is our generations responsibility that most parents failed at.

Did you read the article? Here is an excerpt:

It’s worth pausing here to point out that you can’t really blame younger people for struggling at what were once seen as academic basics. The school system is in shambles, their education was bisected by the COVID pandemic, and they’re been reared in a world that’s increasingly deemphasized reading in favor of videos, voiceovers, and other emerging forms of communication.

Yes, I read the article. Does not change the rhetoric.
~~Gen Z Arriving at College Unable to Read~~
GenZ is struggling because of a broken system - and now teachers instead of teaching, lowering the bars even more - without any idea how to fix it.
Edit:
Ohh and one more question: how did they get accepted to colleges? Is it okay to take tuition from people who can't read? And provide them with a diploma without teaching them read?

It’s capitalism, baby. Doesn’t matter, made money. Turns out, teaching costs money, and barring some students means you missed out on some money!

So what do? Easy! Admit just about anyone, cut staff, charge more, print diploma and charge them for that too!
