Showerthoughts

A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. The most popular seem to be lighthearted clever little truths, hidden in daily life.

Here are some examples to inspire your own showerthoughts:

Rules

  1. All posts must be showerthoughts
  2. The entire showerthought must be in the title
  3. No politics
    • If your topic is in a grey area, please phrase it to emphasize the fascinating aspects, not the dramatic aspects. You can do this by avoiding overly politicized terms such as "capitalism" and "communism". If you must make comparisons, you can say something is different without saying something is better/worse.
    • A good place for politics is c/politicaldiscussion
  4. Posts must be original/unique
  5. Adhere to Lemmy's Code of Conduct and the TOS

If you made it this far, showerthoughts is accepting new mods. This community is generally tame so its not a lot of work, but having a few more mods would help reports get addressed a little sooner.

Whats it like to be a mod? Reports just show up as messages in your Lemmy inbox, and if a different mod has already addressed the report, the message goes away and you never worry about it.

Always has been. Used to be contained to religion.

God is all knowing, he created the universe, he created man, he created all life on earth, he created complex ecosystems that symbiotically support each other by each others existence.

He created man with a complex brain that has sentience, and a unique ability to design new concepts.

But even with all that, God just can't balance a checkbook. He needs you to give 10% of human created currency to....uhhh......look, just put your money in the bowl. Don't question it.

And these concepts go back thousands of years. Then sometime in the 1960s, some assholes started plotting ways to expand on that through government control. Then years later Nixon was like "Yeah, sure, I'll do that. I'm corrupt enough. Now help me spy on the democrats!"

Then each year the government spends just a little less on education, and the masses get dumber, and easier to manipulate.

Then some time in the 90s, Rupert Murdock was like "Hey, what if we brainwash these assholes 24/7? Then we can expand our corruption even FURTHER!!!"

And now we're at the point where I legitimately think some of these people can't even be thought of people. More like zombies. Wait, no. That's not quite fair. Zombies at least seek out brains. These people today have no desire use for brains.

I'll do you one better. The rich convinced the people that the fundamental nature of reality is both objective and knowable, and that it generally agrees with white people's existing cultural biases.

And they convinced white people to spread their idea of reality, because believing in a different reality (or unreality) is some kind of moral crime.

And that's why people hate schizophrenics, for struggling to see reality. That's why they hate trans people, for ignoring what cis traditions see as real. That's why they hate abolitionists and suffragetes and socialists. That's why they hate muslims and indigenous and pagans and twospirit. That's why they hate anyone who thinks differently than they do. For not conforming to their moralist idea of objective reality.

Subscription model x ponzi scheme

It took time to accept it, but reading up on Mother Theresa's controversies was part of my separation. "I'm not trying to ease suffering, I'm increasing the number followers". The healthy don't cry out and ask for God's help.

Therefore, the tithes must continue until death. You don't want to be stuck outside the pearly gates because you cheated the church of a few dollars in 2051, right? I hope those gummy bears in 2012 were worth it.

Look at the Vatican. The money there... They could end world hunger. They won't, because they'd lose subscribers. The Vatican ending hunger would be on par with Belle Delphine finally showing her pussy. The chase would be over and the business model would collapse. She's mortal and has more than she can spend. The Vatican thinks it's immortal. Imagine preaching the words of Jesus about loving, caring for, feeding, ans clothing thy neighbor, asking followers to support global efforts, but living in a gilded palace in pasta centro.
