I found myself in a similarly 'my way is the high way' conversation the other day. Some people are at a point where talking over nuance is taken as a personal affront. This leads to taking dialogue out of context or refusing to answer questions or any number of things.
Quite the shame as it's just another example of infighting and tends to become a distraction.
There's definitely been a surge of it, but I'm not convinced they're all genuine.
There are certainly a lot of bad actors out there, posing as leftists, and sowing inflammatory rhetoric and discord throughout left-wing spaces by calling for violence and insulting/strawmanning anyone who has the gall to disagree with them...
This "violence is the only way crowd" are certainly not out there in the cold putting their asses on the line. Most of them probably aren't even in the US.
