Don't know the laws there, but in Texas, white signs represent things regulated by laws and have legal repercussions while yellow signs are just warnings or notices.

  • Drive 45 passing a white sign that says 35: get a ticket
  • Drive 45 passing a yellow sign that says 35: probably trying to warn you about a curve, condition, wildlife, or intersection. Slow down if you're feeling cautious.

I once drove through a trailer park that said 9½, and I wasn't sure what to make of that. I know that it's meant to catch your attention, but what a useless fucking number to choose.
