No they weren't. At all. The jokes about spotify et. al. were about paying rent for something you used to own, not that the idea was completely useless and unprofitable.

We are discussing my own experiences over the last 10 years with people saying uber et. al. are unprofitable and will therefore eventually go broke, the OP looks to be repeating this
If you are unable to understand what we’re talking about and use words you don’t understand maybe spend less time being a snarky fuck and more time thinking about what you type
