This is partly why I'm alright with Keir Starmer being my Prime Minister.
Yes, I recognise my privilege, and yes, I recognise that other people are likely suffering because of his government's policies. But there's not a huge amount that I personally can do to change the government's minds, and it was much, much worse under The Fucking Tories.
So for my own mental health I'm taking the view that it's quite nice to not open the news sites and see nothing but nastiness and horror. Until I browse the world news section, that is.

People are watching trump rip apart the modern world status quo and disrupt any sense of remaining international law, yet still want to vote for Farage next election.

When "conservatives" are in office: "well, you should've voted for liberals, they are easier to sway towards progressive policies than conservatives"
When "liberals" are in office: "well, there's not much I personally can do to change the government's minds"
Please, tell me what exactly I can do to force a change of mind in the current government?
Here's the thing, you're right, you individually can't directly influence the current government because it is only answerable to a class you don't belong in, the capitalists. The only way to change things for the better is to organize with your fellow proletariat and change the class dynamics enough such that the government is answerable to your class, whether through a revolution or a credible threat of one. A good way to start is to read some theory, join a union at your workplace if there is one, and join a local socialist/communist party - they will have both the resources and the ideas on what to do next.
The problem is is that American populist politics has bled over to everywhere else and if you aren’t flooding the zone with shit every five minutes then you may as well be invisible.
Labour are shit at social media and messaging. They’re too old fashioned. Deform are rather well adept at it.
