UK Politics
General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

This is a good demonstration that voters aren't all split along Labour Vs Conservative lines (increasingly harder to be, since they're moving closer and closer together). It surely suggests that the electorate for his ward care about Environmental and migration issues equally - so either Farage is cocking up the running of the Reform party (he is) or the climate has become more important than migration for these people (also plausible)
It's more because the Green party got a leader who very publicly talks about most, if not all of society's problems are caused by the wealthy. His name is Zack Polanski, he is a bit like a British version of Zoran Mamdani. Since he became party leader the Green party has gone up hugely in the polls.
I do wonder how long that will last. His interesting past is a bit of an achilles heel, which he demonstrated by chickening out of his HIGNFY appearance at the last minute, despite that show having a proven track record of raising politicians’ profiles.
If he were to become perceived as a threat, I’m sure dirt would hit the fans and the tabloid front pages.
He didn't appear on HIGNFY because he went on Question Time to debate immigration instead. Could be a convenient excuse, but I do personal believe him.
He’d get a much bigger audience on HIGNFY, so I’d question his thinking if true. Or perhaps he realised there was zero chance HIGNFY would miss the opportunity to play the boob clip.
His thinking, at least what he said publicly, is that he felt it was more important to go on QT to defend migrants. IRRC, he also said at the time he'd be going on HIGNFY in 2026.
