Doesn't cost Canada financially, that's true. Yet it costs the international community's institutions in power, since an alternative is being acknowledged, and probably even Canada in reputation, in the long run.

Harper already ruined our reputation and Trudeau didn't really repair it, just stopped the freefall degredation of it.

Yes, this hurts our rep just by joining it, but as its basically a "let Trump pretend he is king of the world" club its not an issue until he tries to use it to pressure us somehow.

I dont see it working because he's inviting Netenyahu and Putin, and both of them work him by manipulation and they have opposing goals.

Depends on your definition of "working". I wouldn't be surprised if it was the idea of one of those two originally. It surely works for them.
