Feels unnecessarily ableist. I’m not sure why this guy’s particular reasons were, but I don’t think that is something to be shamed in general.
Sorry, I thought it may have been common knowledge on this website what this guy's deal is.
He flew to the UK from Brisbane to attend a protest for the East Turkestan independence movement outside the Chinese embassy in London instead of doing his degree. Or flew to Melbourne to point out all the Chinese owned frozen yoghurt shops instead of doing his degree. Or repeatedly going to court to fight a $1,000 fine (and losing) to the point where he racked up $20,000 in court fees over said $1,000 fine instead of doing his degree. Or wearing a hazmat suit outside a Chinese language learning center during COVID lockdowns and getting temporarily suspended from his university instead of doing his degree. Or podcasting instead of doing his degree.
This is why it's taken him 8 years for his 4 year degree. He's too busy being a dickhead. A performative dickhead.
That’s fair, I go out of my way to not dig too much into these weirdos. It does sound like he wants to set up a career of grifting.
He got his 5 minutes of fame by being pro HK in the 2019 riots and has been chasing that high for the next 7 years. His classmates at UQ keep saying he was insufferable before all this, the only people that gave him any attention were Young Liberals trying to recruit well off rubes into being Liberals, and on the occasions where he did show up to class he would be scrolling Twitter instead of taking notes or engaging with the class.
He's like if Crowder was somehow even dumber and less business savvy. The American grifters at least know how to maximise stunt:profit ratio, this guy's stunts are costing him 5 figures in court fees because he seems to think the Australian judicial system works like an American movie
