Flippant Anarchism. A lighter take on social criticism with the aim of agitation.

Post humorous takes on capitalism and the states which prop it up. Memes, shitposting, screenshots of humorous good takes, discussions making fun of some reactionary online, it all works.

This community is anarchist-flavored. Reactionary takes won't be tolerated.

Don't take yourselves too seriously. Serious posts go to !anarchism@lemmy.dbzer0.com

Rules

  1. If you post images with text, endeavour to provide the alt-text

  2. If the image is a crosspost from an OP, Provide the source.

  3. Absolutely no right-wing jokes. This includes "Anarcho"-Capitalist concepts.

  4. Absolutely no redfash jokes. This includes anything that props up the capitalist ruling classes pretending to be communists.

  5. No bigotry whatsoever. See instance rules.

  6. This is an anarchist comm. You don't have to be an anarchist to post, but you should at least understand what anarchism actually is. We're not here to educate you.

  7. No shaming people for being anti-electoralism. This should be obvious from the above point but apparently we need to make it obvious to the turbolibs who can't control themselves. You have the rest of lemmy to moralize.

The deaf will never hear. The blind will never see. You can't cure stupid. You can't erase evil.

It's a fucking miracle that leftist have dragged right and center this far. The problem is that we've entered a time where evil are emboldened by an anti-intellectual epidemic. We're evolving backwards.

We need the center to either wisen up or start giving a damn. It's not universal healthcare that is at stake. It's weekends and holidays, child labor, and workers compensation. They constantly walk in that direction because they can. The right is in a cult. The center is distracted.

It’s weekends and holidays, child labor, and workers compensation

Centrists like to think they made all those things happen and their existence is proof that triangulation on every issue works. The history of workers comp is pretty interesting if you havent read it yet:

Damn, the pivot from comrad to capitalist hit like a brick wall. The last few paragraph shills about how amazing is.

General start vibe:

In order to recruit crew members, each shipmate was guaranteed payment of pieces of eight for various body parts lost during their dangerous trade. Injuries at sea ranged from 100 pieces of eight for the loss of a finger or eye, 400 for loss of a left leg, 500 for a right leg, and 600 pieces of eight for the loss of a right arm. Since 100 pieces of eight was the equivalent of most colonial American wages in a year, the amount could add up to the equivalent of 6 years of lost salary.

To juxtapose:

For instance, the loss of a thumb in South Dakota entitles any worker to 50 weeks of compensation regardless of his/her disability.

Pirates swabbing the deck got 6 times more for losing a foot than an American today losing a thumb. But this fucking closer:

Texas has one of the nation’s leading economies and continues to draw new businesses and workers from across the nation, and the choice many employers have made of utilizing the innovative injury benefit program has been a win-win scenario for both employers and their employees.

Had to double check the author from the recoil:

Jeff Pettegrew is the Chief Policy Officer of ARAWC, a renowned insurance industry thought leader, risk manager, and CEO for over 35 years specializing in workers’ compensation.

So I just google "ARAWC" and the first thing that pops up is:

The ARAWC (Association for Responsible Alternatives to Workers’ Compensation), a lobbying group financed by almost two dozen major corporations including Walmart, Lowes, Macys and Kohls are working to make it harder for injured workers to obtain lost wages and medical care.

Otherwise, thanks for the cool read.
