They left 4 minutes for Josh Allen & the Bills? That might have been a mistake....

[–] wjrii@lemmy.world 5 points 5 days ago

Not as big a mistake as TLaw having his first true TLaw head-scratcher in two months.

Damn. Oh well.

I lived close to Jacksonville back in '93 when the city was awarded the franchise. They wanted an NFL team so bad, and several teams had used the city as leverage to get a better deal in their home cities. At one point both the Colts & Falcons flirted with moving to Jacksonville, but of course neither did. I watched the ceremony live on a Jacksonville TV station when they revealed the second expansion team (they had already announced the Carolina Panthers), and when it was revealed to be Jacksonville, the city went crazy. They strongly supported that team, and it had pretty fast success.

I'm glad for the city that the team is still there, and I still root for them when they're not playing the Falcons.

I grew up in the Jax area, and I was in junior high when the team was announced. It’s hard to explain what a validation of the entire community the team was, as irrational as it is.

I left over twenty years ago, and wouldn’t want to live there again, but the Jags are the one part of Jacksonville I won’t give up.

It’s hard to explain what a validation of the entire community the team was

That's a GREAT way to put it.

This one has me pretty nervous, but I try to remind myself the Jags are playing with house money this year.

[–] edcasting@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Are they? Do they know TLaw will ever get to a conference championship game?

[–] wjrii@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

Not that anything is guaranteed, but rather that current performance is ahead of commonly-held expectations.

Also... my team just lost... I... need to believe this. LOL.

[–] Nusm@peachpie.theatl.social 3 points 5 days ago

I... uhh.... guess not.

[–] Nusm@peachpie.theatl.social 3 points 5 days ago

...like I said.

Now, did they leave too much time for the Jags?!

[–] RandAlThor@lemmy.ca 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

1 minute is too much time with McDermott's defense lol.

[–] RandAlThor@lemmy.ca 6 points 5 days ago

wow ok I didn't see that coming. TLawrence isn't Mahomes.

[–] RandAlThor@lemmy.ca 3 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

WOW. Refs tried to give 3 points to Jags. But ball don't lie lol

[–] RandAlThor@lemmy.ca 2 points 6 days ago

This game is going down the wire like the first 2 wild card games isn't it.

[–] RandAlThor@lemmy.ca 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

I'm not confident Bills can win this road game. They have had problems with Jaguars in Josh Allen era.

[–] dhork@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Well, the Bills figured it out. I think that if the Bills can win on the road here, with this crowd, they can potentially win anywhere.

[–] RandAlThor@lemmy.ca 4 points 5 days ago

T. Lawrence lack of playoff experience showed up there. The dude is like a Georgia QB. If you don't have a dominant team I don't think you can count on him to win games.

[–] Prox@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago (3 children)

With the Packers out, I'm now hopping on the Jags bandwagon. Here's hoping that we get a shootout between Lawrence and Allen, with the winner putting up 5 total TDs.

[–] Mim@lemmy.zip 3 points 5 days ago

So, uh, could you hop on the 49ers or Seahawks bandwagon next?

[–] Sharkticon@lemmy.zip 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Okay judging from your track record I'm going to ask you not to join the Broncos bandwagon next.

[–] edcasting@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago

As a NE fan, I feel like we've won too much, so he should definitely root for the Bills to finally win one.

[–] makyo@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago

Sorta pulling for the Bills because I like Allen but otherwise also hoping for a fun shootout no matter who wins.
