The "criminal charges" thing against Maduro is a joke. Any court will throw them out.
I have no idea what they intend to do with that.
Disrupt Venezuela for long enough to let corporations re-privatize that nation's oil reserves for US business interests while everyone is distracted by a multi year long trial process that ends up going nowhere, Maduro gets released or pardoned.

I actually expected them to delay the judgment indefinitely. But they have already put him in front of a judge.
Trump does nothing himself. Sham justice carries the support of the entire political establishment.
