How you apply them? What desktop environment or window manager are you using?

it changes at least once per year and i used to do it with code versioning; but now i've just learned how to be happy with the basic settings that are common on most distros. i've used Debian, Ubuntu, Red Hat & Oracle professionally and Fedora & Ubuntu personally.

i asked you this because the other time i asked this on lemmy it i learned something new about how it can be done and i'm hoping to strike gold twice.

Ah, thanks for clarifying! I self-host Gitea on a rpi and just push my dots to it.
