And just think, Trump probably could have gotten Maduro arrested by purely legal means

...

But that would have meant respecting the law, like a woke-ass pussy

How? America doesn't have jurisdiction over Venezuela. The entire premise here is insane... Sure, we could have backed a rival or done a coup, but the legal mechanism would be sanctions and international pressure

Or an ICC arrest warrant

Or letters of marqe and reprisal

When has an ICC arrest order actually been enacted on a state leader?

He'd been out of office for a couple years so I don't know if you'd count him, but former Philippine president and mass murderer Rodrigo Duterte was arrested on an ICC warrant less than a year ago.

Good counter example, but the sitting part is important

Granted it does give weight to your argument, he wouldn't have been arrested by the ICC until he was ousted, but it would've applied pressure

Well there was also $50 million bounty on his capture

[–] ElectricAirship@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 3 months ago

Duterte of The Phillipines.

[–] FauxPseudo@lemmy.world 4 points 3 months ago

Then he couldn't claim the $50 million reward.
